When Your Blog Disappears and the Dentist Awaits: A Tuesday Lesson in Owning Your Power – Thrive with Rebecca Blog on Mindset and Resilience

The Morning Spiral: From Meditation to Meltdown

I woke up early today and debated jumping — okay, more like crawling — out of bed. Instead, I chose breathwork and a quick meditation. Well … sort of. They say it’s a practice for a reason, right?

I was feeling good. I even dared to open myself up to the abundance of the Universe.

Then I sat down at my computer.

While responding to a kind comment on social media, I realized something was missing. (Cue horror music.) The edited draft of my blog — the one I’d poured hours into — was gone. Just… vanished.

It wasn’t written on paper, so I couldn’t even blame the dog for eating my homework. It was typed into a program that normally autosaves everything. But not today. Not this time. A couple hours of work: poof. Gone like a sock in the dryer.

The Crossroads Moment: Meltdown or Mindset Shift?

So there I was — meditating one moment, spiraling the next. Somewhere between “I welcome abundance and peace” and “I might actually throw myself on the floor in a full-on temper tantrum.”

And as if that wasn’t enough … I had a dentist appointment scheduled for later. The kind where, when asked, “How long has it been since your last visit?” your only honest answer is, “I don’t want to talk about it.”

By 5:30 a.m., I was at a crossroads.

Meltdown on the floor? Or … put on the metaphorical big girl panties and move forward?

You can probably guess what I chose. (Okay, after a minute of whining and maybe a deep sigh or two.)

The Power of Choice (Even on a Tuesday)

I took a breath. I restored what I could from an old draft I’d saved in another app. It wasn’t the same, and it didn’t quite feel right for today — but I was back on my feet. I chose to take the day back. Then, I wrote this post instead.

Here’s the thing: we all face these moments.

Moments where everything feels out of our control.

Moments where the Universe feels not so abundant and your to-do list feels like a personal attack.

Moments where you want to blame someone — anyone — or just wallow in frustration.

But here’s a gentle truth: you have more power than you think.

Claim Your Power. Don’t Give It Away.

You can’t always control what happens — but you do get to choose how you respond. Blaming others (or yourself) might feel satisfying in the moment, but it drains your energy. It traps you in a victim mindset. And when you live there, you hand your power away — sometimes without even realizing it.

So what if, the next time everything goes sideways, you paused and asked:

  • What can I control here?
  • How do I want to show up at this moment?
  • Can I choose something different?

Your Day. Your Power. Your Choice.

I created my own Tuesday today.

I scheduled the dentist appointment.

I forgot to save my finished blog in the right place.

And I chose — after a deep breath and a mild panic spiral — not to let any of that ruin my day.

You have that choice, too. You don’t have to do it perfectly. But you can decide to own your part, reclaim your power, and keep going.

Because the truth is: you’re stronger than a missing blog post. Braver than an overdue dental cleaning. And way more resilient than you give yourself credit for.
